Three-quarters of the population oppose the idea of pay-per-view television, according to CIA Medialab’s latest Sensor survey.Almost as many viewers with cable, satellite or digital services (74%) as those without (75%) felt that showing top events on pay-per-view was a bad idea. Of those events that they would pay to watch, 21% of those surveyed were amenable to paying for top football matches. Among 15-to-34-year-olds, the number prepared to pay between √Ǭ£5 and √Ǭ£10 increased to 26%.The survey also suggests that the majority of the population (62%) wouldn’t be prepared to support a rise in the licence fee, even if it meant the BBC hanging on to more sporting rights.
