“Trainers, crepes, sneakers whatever you call them there’s no denying that they’ve become a status symbol especially for hip hop culture.” A BBC documentary spoke to the likes of Jay-Z, Craig David, Miss Dynamite and Big Brovaz to find out how the hip hop  world hijacked the trainer market.


First it was Jay Z, then Nelly - even Funkmaster Flex got in on the act with his FMF-1 ‘Driving Shoe’, whatever that is.  Hip Hop and footwear affiliation has become the latest ‘revenue stream’ for superstar rappers.

Even Pepsi uses miniature trainers to market its cola in Japan… which of course live eternally after on ebay
