If you were one of the three thousand people that packed out [last year's event](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2012/09/hewett-street-block-party--2?ref=protein.xyz) then you'll know this will be a day full of solidly good vibes, good music and some damn fine food (and drink). There's dozens of prizes, with more pouring in by the day, including a night at the plush new Shoreditch-based Ace Hotel and a stylish Uniform Wares watch. There'll be grub from some the best street food purveyors in the city, a sound system pumping out good-time jams, as well as stalls offering a host of games, a tie-dye workshop, live screen printing and some mystery coconut fun... Just like last year, all proceeds will be going to local charity, the [Hackney Pirates](http://hackneypirates.org/?ref=protein.xyz), an innovative education project to help local kids develop core literacy skills and creative abilities by providing one-to-one attention in an unconventional learning environment.
