We've seen an increasing number of design based solutions to health issues over the past few months, (this [blood-sugar reader](http://prote.in/feed/2012/11/conceptual-diabetic-tester?ref=protein.xyz) for example) and this new device from [HAPILABS](http://www.hapilabs.com/?ref=protein.xyz) looks set to help people struggling to lose weight. Instead of hard-to-follow diet plans, the [HAPIfork](http://www.hapilabs.com/products-hapifork.asp?ref=protein.xyz) controls the speed at which you eat, vibrating and becoming hard to use if the user eats too fast.

Based on the evidence that people feel full after 20 minutes of eating, regardless of how fast they eat, the solution seems delightfully simple, and far less complicated than the latest 'no-carbs-after-11am-except-with-oily-fish-and-glass-of-spicy-carrot-juice fad diet plan'.

The fork also comes with a removable USB drive that can upload your progress to an online dashboard and accompanying coaching app for Android to track your eating speed and weight loss progress.
