Almost a mixture between a care package from your parents and the return of a treat-wielding colleague from a far-away land, [GothamBox](http://www.gothambox.com/?ref=protein.xyz) is a new subscription service that delivers location-inspired food straight to your door.

For $20 per month subscribers receive a package containing an assortment of foods – from coffee and snacks to full meals – letting them taste and enjoy the cuisine of a chosen city. Currently available for San Francisco and New York, the company have teamed up with local producers in each area to provide subscribers with a unique taste of that city. On top of this, for every member that joins, GothamBox donates a meal to a hunger relief charity.

The idea originated as a way to help those new to a city ease in with reminders from home, but also offers an interesting opportunity for people to get a local taste of another city. It's a great way to both support small local producers while at the same time helping those in need and engaging people through a little surprise in the mail.
