Designer [Florian Dussop](http://www.floriandussopt.com/?ref=protein.xyz)[t](http://www.floriandussopt.com/?ref=protein.xyz)'s EM (ElectroMagnetic) Table is a fascinating experiment on how invisible natural energies work. The table features an electronic circuit that enables it to generate a low intensity electromagnetic field, when switched on. This field acts directly on the gas inside fluorescent bulbs and lights them up when placed on or near the surface.   
  
Designers have tried before to make the invisible visible – [CIID's workshop](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2013/07/visualising-electromagnetic-fields?ref=protein.xyz) that helped visualize electromagnetic fields through animation and photography is one such example. But, because no plugging in is required, Dussopt's table brings about a feeling of magic, it intrigues users and allows them to directly interact with an otherwise invisible force. However, it does come with a warning sign: mobile devices should be kept away from it when it's turned on.
