The [Ecolorium](http://ecolorium.com/?ref=protein.xyz) boutique develops luxury and eco-friendly lifestyle products catering to conscious consumers who want good design. Started by [Elena Corchero](http://www.elenacorchero.com/?ref=protein.xyz), a smart materials and wearables specialist based in London, Ecolorium's first offering is a jewellery range made of Albedonite – a cultivated cloudy white crystal that blushes fuscia when exposed to UV rays. The jewellery provides a natural reminder of the harmful rays we are exposed to, making the invisible visible.  
  
Wearable technologies like [OM Signal Shirt](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2013/07/omsignal-smart-shirt?ref=protein.xyz) utilise advances in digital technologies to constantly track changes in physical state. In contrast, the Ecolorium range and [Hygroskin](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2014/02/hygroskin?ref=protein.xyz) are examples of a growing band of designers who are looking to pre-existing non-digital materials to illustrate ambient changes.
