[Doodle Buzz](http://www.doodlebuzz.com/?ref=protein.xyz) \[doodlebuzz.com\] is an online news aggregator with a visual twist. Users are requested to submit their favorite news theme or topic, and to draw a crazy, chaotic, all-over-the-place, messed-up, scribbled line on the white canvas. The line is then used as the framework to layout the headlines, summaries and related topics. The aim is to create an entirely new way of exploring information, one that allows for a kind of "quiet chaos" that gives people the opportunity to explore unthought of paths and connections along their news gathering journey. The data is fetched from [DayPI](http://developer.daylife.com/?ref=protein.xyz), a recent service by [DayLife](http://www.daylife.com/?ref=protein.xyz) that allows a new architecture of online news. The visually chaotic and more playful approach towards exploring news seems like an interesting alternative to the more scientific-looking network graphs of news already out there, such as [News Visual](http://infosthetics.com/archives/2008/04/newsvisual%5Fbusiness%5Flegal%5Fnews.html?ref=protein.xyz), [Muckety](http://infosthetics.com/archives/2008/04/muckety%5Finteractive%5Fnews%5Fgraphs.html?ref=protein.xyz), [SiloBreaker](http://infosthetics.com/archives/2008/02/silobreaker%5Fnews%5Fportal.html?ref=protein.xyz), [Libero](http://infosthetics.com/archives/2007/01/libero%5Fwebnews%5Fgraphnews%5Fnetwork%5Fgraph%5Fnews.html?ref=protein.xyz), [TextMap](http://infosthetics.com/archives/2007/08/textmap%5Fnews%5Fportal%5Fvisualization.html?ref=protein.xyz) and [CNET News Ontology](http://infosthetics.com/archives/2005/10/cnet%5Fnewscom%5Fontology%5Fviewer.html?ref=protein.xyz). The visual style of DoodleBuzz reminds me of [Brad Paley](http://didi.com/brad/?ref=protein.xyz)'s [Map of Science](http://infosthetics.com/archives/2007/03/map%5Fof%5Fscience%5Fvisualization.html?ref=protein.xyz). The idea of "sketching news" is still one of my personal favorites, like [Week in Review](http://infosthetics.com/archives/2005/07/week%5Fin%5Freview%5F1.html?ref=protein.xyz).
