A new three-way collaboration between [Vodaphone Romania](https://www.vodafone.ro/personal/index.htm?ref=protein.xyz#tab-1) furniture retailer [Mobexpert](http://www.mobexpert.ro/?ref=protein.xyz) and advertising agency [Mcann Bucharest](http://www.mccann.ro/?ref=protein.xyz) has managed to re-contextualise the role of the bookshelf for the modern world.   
  
To create a personal library users need to click on to the [Biblioteca Digitalia](http://www.bibliotecapemobil.ro/?ref=protein.xyz) site and choose what titles they want, as well as having the option of personalise the shelf with their own photos. Each 'book' is accompanied with a QR code, which, when scanned, gives them access to the pages within. It's an interesting melding of new technology sold in a traditional form. In times where space is a valuable commodity the adhesive wallpaper has obvious benefits, as well as giving users the opportunity to show off how well read they are in ways that would be impossible with a Kindle.  
  
In recent times there has been a push in the digital world to help promote more traditional means of reading. For example students from the Miami Ad School recently created [The Virtual Library](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2013/03/virtual-library?ref=protein.xyz) to help promote interest in New York's libraries by offering commuters a peak into books as they travel the New York Subway.
