[A new study](http://scienceblogs.com/cognitivedaily/2006/04/the%5Fsurprising%5Feffect%5Fof%5Fcultu.php?ref=protein.xyz) has found that your visual cognition of a scene is affected by the environment and culture which you grew up in. The study found that, for instance, Americans put more focus on foreground elements in a scene whilst Japanese people are better at recalling background elements.
