Designed by [Sweet Tech Studio](http://www.sweet-tech-studio.com/?ref=protein.xyz)’s Liat Segal, Confession Machine is a device which prints text that fades away over time. Exploring the transitory nature of digital technology - as well as the lightweight nature we treat confessions online - the machine pulls texts from social networks and prints them on a hard surface that is painted with an ultra violet sensitive pigment. As the device passes over the surface it activates a series of 16 UV LED lights in a custom sequence, temporarily creating marks on the surface. These marks become letters, words and confessional phrases which quickly fade away as the printer moves on. Commissioned by [Artists’ Residence Herzelya](https://www.facebook.com/mishcanomanimherzelia), Confession Machine just goes to show how lightly we’ll throw out intimate thoughts or action on social media ([Snapchat](http://www.snapchat.com/?ref=protein.xyz), for example, or perhaps more recently [Confide](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2014/01/confide?ref=protein.xyz)), and how differently we treat the same notion in the real world.
