When it comes to contemporary digital art, interactivity is big thing. It’s high in impact and personal at the same time. We've featured a lot of interesting lighting projects recently – such as Laser Forest and SONOS Playground. But the Colour The Bridge installation, which is part of the Vivid Sydney festival, is the largest one to date. Designed by the production company 32 Hundred Lighting, in collaboration with Intel, it lights up Sydney Harbour Bridge with swashes of bright colours. Designers covered the western façade of the bridge with 2000 LEDs, creating essentially a 8,000 pixel wide screen. Most interestingly, the lighting sculpture can be controlled by the public, who choose the design and colours via a touchscreen in a kiosk located near the bridge. It has two computers that are wired up to the Harbour Bridge. Anyone can create their own painting and watch it come alive.
