# Be.e Scooter

Dutch designers Maarten Heijties and Simon Akkaya of [Waarmakers](http://waarmakers.nl/?ref=protein.xyz) fame, have collaborated with [InHolland](http://www.inholland.nl/inhollandcom/?ref=protein.xyz) and sustainable transport company [Van.Eko](http://vaneko.com/?ref=protein.xyz) to produce the world's most eco-friendly scooter. [Be.e](http://vaneko.com/be-e?ref=protein.xyz) is a biocomposite, electric scooter that's built from compressed plants.   
  
Taking inspiration for its structural support from the natural design of the egg shells, the scooter is held together by a combination of flax and bio-resin, which sounds a little risky considering it can reach speeds of 60km/h. We've seen a flux of designs that use natural, sustainable materials, the [Paper Pulp Helmet](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2013/06/paper-pulp-helmet?ref=protein.xyz), for example, as well as Studio Swine's [Sea Chair](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2013/02/sea-chair?ref=protein.xyz), however the Be.e Scooter is perhaps packing the most horsepower.
